You are now almost ready

Dear Chori,

you are now almost ready to come join us. Today you are 37 weeks, in medical terms, "full term". You've been in my belly for these long 37 weeks, and soon you'll join us in the outside world.

We start this blog as a way to document your day to day life to share with family and friends who reside too far to get to see you as often as they'd like. I am starting to blog from today, as a way to also capture the weeks leading up to your birth and as a little memory for us, your parents, of how we spent this time.

Although the first 8 months seemed to fly by, the past few weeks have been passing at a snail's pace. We are ready. We are excited. We just want you to be here.

This past week we:
  • your father got an annual membership for ZipCar (not sure how much us City dwellers with use this), got an annual membership for CostCo (once again not sure about this one) and we drove to the suburbs to explore this mega store. Your father stocked up on annual supply of essentials such as: baby wipes for you, toilet paper, toothbrushes, and ... Activia yogurt. If nothing else, we'll have those to last us the full year. A funny thing also happened on the way out when we realised being the car-novices we are, we spent a full 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get the trunk of the car open. Our combined 2 bachelors degrees and master's from LSE and Wharton didn't help us much! Finally we just had to google it on mommy's iPhone.
  • yesterday we also had our last baby preparedness class. For the past 5 weeks, we've been spending 3 hours every Wednesday learning all about you and getting ready to take care of you. Yesterday's class ended with us learning to: swaddle, diaper, bathe and feed you. Your father I must say shows signs of being an expert at diapering and swaddling.
